Have Great Meetings at Non-Profit Organizations & Neighborhood, Condominium, and Homeowner Associations!

The Oklahoma State Association of Parliamentarians is conducting an all-day workshop at the Wyndham Garden Hotel, 2101 S Meridian Ave in Oklahoma City on Friday, June 18, and a half-day workshop on Saturday, June 19.

Professional Registered Parliamentarians (PRP) and members of the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP) will serve as workshop presenters. We are pleased to have Steve Glanstein, PRP (NAP Treasurer), with us on Friday and Saturday, who will offer his vast experience in serving community associations in Hawaii. Ella Carlson, PRP, W. Craig Henry, PRP, Joan Blankenship, ret PRP, and George Counselman will present sessions on Friday on some of the basic topics of parliamentary procedure that will benefit leaders, officers, and members of all types of organizations, large or small. On Saturday, Matthew L. Winton, a local attorney specializing in community association governance and law, will offer his insight on how parliamentary matters can become legal matters. Matthew currently acts as general counsel to dozens of community associations, and he is a frequent lecturer to attorneys and real estate professionals on these matters.

There will be an opportunity to take the optional NAP membership examination at the conclusion of the Friday workshop. (Allow 30-45 minutes.) The 300 NAP study questions are available at: www.parliamentarians.org

  • Bylaws and Governing Documents of an Association

  • Lunch ‘n Learn: “Ask the Professionals” – A panel of Professional Registered Parliamentarians accredited by the National Association of Parliamentarians (NAP) will answer questions from the audience. Ask your toughest questions!

  • Main Motions, Privileged, Subsidiary, Incidental, and Bring Back Motions

  • Making and Handling Primary and Secondary Amendments

  • Duties of the Recording Secretary and the Minutes

  • Nominations and Elections

  • Steps in Handling Motions and the Standard Order of Business for Regular Meetings
